1. Business Intelligence Engineer

WorldStrides is currently accepting applications for a mid-level Applications Support Engineer in our Charlottesville, VA office.

This position is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of our Business Intelligence technical solution. The Business Intelligence Engineer will manage source analysis, data modeling, ETL and Business Intelligence tool data design, and development activities. This person will interact with key business leaders within the company to develop business needs. Additionally, this person will work closely with the Data Warehouse Architect on data models and data warehousing needs. The Business Intelligence Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all design and development methodologies conform to industry best practices and processes.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years experience with Business Objects Universe Design and Report Development
• 2 years experience with ETL processes
• 2 years experience with Data Modeling and Data Warehousing
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Combinations of college-level course work in information systems and relevant experience can substitute for a degree.

Desired Qualifications:
• Business Objects Product Suite Experience Preferred
• Business Objects Universe design
• ETL knowledge through Business Objects Data Integrator or other ETL package
• Data Modeling and Data Warehouse design on SQL Server 2000/2005
• SQL Server 2000/2005 Query Design and DTS development

• Manage technical design and development tasks for BI projects.
• Manage technical strategies in regard to data acquisition, transformation, loading, and presentation.
• Manage source data profiling and mapping tasks.
• Manage all design tasks including data modeling, ETL design, and BI tool configuration.
• Develop security strategy and design.
• Devise strategies for performance tuning on Data Warehouse and Data Marts.
• Hardware capacity planning.
• Conceptualize, design, and assist in the implementation of new and existing systems, middleware, data warehouse, and production architectures.
• Identify and promote best practices and patterns for data modeling
• Provide oversight for all activities related to data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes.
• Participate in business requirements sessions.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. On-site coordinating for a number of days to be determined by your supervisor (not to exceed 15 days).
2. Additional duties as assigned.

2. Progress Programmer/Analyst - Worldstrides

Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis, problem identification and support for a variety Progress Applications.
  • Provide Progress coding, testing, and analysis on new projects and business initiatives.
  • Receive user support inquiries via the Help Desk system. Investigate, resolve, and follow-up on user inquiries and problems.
  • Learn and understand our business processes and associated applications.
  • Document new knowledge items in a manner consistent with the guidelines established for maintaining the knowledge base.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new applications by quickly developing a high level of functional expertise.

Required Skills and Abilities:
